An e-mail alias is an e-mail address that uses the very same mailbox along with the initial email. For instance, you could have john@domain.com as the original email address and create an alias doe@domain.com. Both the addresses can share the exact same mailbox, so emails sent to both of them shall be received in a single place. You can use aliases for several reasons, for example talking with various groups of people or signing up on websites. If you start getting lots of spam, for example, you can simply remove the alias whilst your original mailbox will not be changed by any means and you'll keep the communication you need. Aliases are often regarded as a replacement for forwarding emails from one email address to another if you use several email address for contact on your web site.
